First and foremost, I think the dentist's office can and is a scary place for kids. So what we like to do here is create a safe and comfortable environment.
Things that we have available are laughing gas that the kids can breathe throughout the procedure. Parents are welcome back so that they have someone there that they know. And we also have a television that they can watch.
The AAPD does recommend that a child comes in by one-year-old or six months after the first tooth shows up. At that first appointment, we do an exam. We will try to do a cleaning, and then we also provide fluoride treatment. If we're unable to do the work here because their work is too extensive, we can refer them to a pediatric dentist for further treatment.
When we do some of the fillings, we have a light that is a lot faster than some other lights, so we can get that work done a lot quicker. We have toys available for the kids to choose when they are finished.
I'm a general dentist but decided to focus all my time on children's dentistry. That is where I'm the happiest. It just brings me joy when I can change that appointment and they come out happy. I just love it.
We love seeing children, and we'd love you to be a patient.
