Early on, I helped a family member who was a dentist in their office, and I found out that this is something that I like. It involves a little bit of handwork, and it involves a little bit of brainwork. The more I looked into it, I liked it even more.
The biggest thing is the combination of the handwork, but also the clinical work. And so this is a little combination of medicine, but also maybe a little bit of engineering, a little bit of art that goes into it. And so the combination of all three is really what makes dentistry special.
I want the patient to be comfortable. Comfort can easily be obtained if you listen to the patient, whether they're anxious, whether they have a specific concern that they'd like addressed. Listening is a big thing that helps. I like changing people's smiles, and people enjoy that. We want to make sure that the work that we've done not only works on the short term but also the long term.
